Fashion has always been a portal to different worlds, allowing us to step into realms of fantasy, power, and even the bizarre. This Halloween, I took that concept to the next level in a high-fashion editorial photoshoot inspired by a mix of Ghostbuster chic and Tokyo street vibes—a fusion that’s both ultra-real and deliciously creepy. Welcome to the haunted, slime-splattered couture of Shibuya!

The Look: A Ghostly Muse in Neon

For this shoot, I wanted to channel the eerie glamour of an otherworldly being—someone who could easily stroll through the spirit-filled streets of Tokyo while also turning heads for her bold fashion choices. The centerpiece? A mind-blowing, custom-designed haute couture dress made entirely of slime, neon green, pink, and white plastic trash bags. Think eco-friendly ghostbusting with a glamorous twist!

The neon green hair was an absolute must. Long, flowing locks that could rival any ectoplasmic trail, shimmering against the backdrop of Shibuya’s urban chaos. I styled the hair to look both wild and structured, creating a frame for her face, where bold, red lips popped like an exclamation point of high drama.

The Accessories: Gold Chains in the Underworld

As with any look, accessories are everything. I draped my model in oversized gold chains and earrings, a nod to street style but with a supernatural edge. These chains had a ghostly shimmer in the natural, soft light that enveloped the streets of Shibuya at dusk, almost like the spirits themselves were embracing her as she stood out from the chaos.

The Setting: Old Garbage Truck Glamour

There’s something deeply poetic about shooting high fashion on the back of an old white garbage truck in the streets of Shibuya. It’s gritty, raw, and eerily beautiful. The juxtaposition of shiny, neon plastic against the rusting metal of the truck created a visual contrast that’s haunting but mesmerizing.

We shot using Kodak 35mm film to capture every little detail, from the texture of the slime-covered dress to the glistening neon in the soft natural light. The vibe of Shibuya added that extra punch of cool—its streets always alive with energy, buzzing with the neon lights of a city that never sleeps, even in the underworld.

Makeup: A Ghostly Glamour

For the makeup, I kept it hauntingly simple yet striking. I chose a dewy, almost ethereal base for the skin, giving her that otherworldly glow. The red lips were bold, daring, and slightly smeared—think afterlife glamour meets street style rebellion. A ghost doesn’t need perfection; she needs presence. And the red lips delivered just that.

Why Halloween?

Halloween has always been about transformation, and fashion is the ultimate way to embody that spirit. With this photoshoot, I wanted to explore what it means to be both beautiful and a little terrifying—pushing boundaries and blending the realms of the living and the dead, fashion and trash, beauty and decay.

And where better to bring that vision to life than the neon-lit streets of Shibuya, a place where the past, present, and future constantly collide, much like the strange worlds we explored in this editorial.

Final Thoughts: Fashion from the Beyond

This shoot was about more than just clothes. It was about crafting an entire world—one where a woman could be both a high-fashion muse and a ghostbuster battling spirits in neon and slime. The blend of hyperrealism and fantasy, captured in ultra-detailed 35mm film, is a celebration of the odd, the creepy, and the beautifully grotesque.
